HWIC-2FE Card

I have purchase the above card and it is installed into the Cisco HWIC-1T  router with the three sets of indicaters on. ie FDX/COL, 100, LINK/ACT. The show ip int brief doesn't recognise the added interface and my thinking is that the software on the router needs to be upgraded.

Can someone provide me with the link to upgrade from 12.4(3c), RELEASE

SOFTWARE (fc1) to release 12.4(15)T that is required. Also, the instructions.

You will need a valid Cisco support contract for the router to be able to download a newer version of IOS unfortunately.

Do you have one? If the router is new it will be under warranty and have one.

Try contacting Cisco TAC. It is also possible that since you bought the HWIC they might still give you the update.

Since you have a Cisco 2811, the FRU / part no. for the card should be HWIC-2FE= so if it is not, then your problem may be the card.  The HWIC-2FE comes in two flavours:

HWIC-2FE= which is required for Cisco 2811

HWIC-2FE required for 1861, 1941, 1941W, 2901, 2911, 2921, 2961, 3925 and 3945

I am assuming that you got the correct card type to start with.

Then choose the release you need under 12.4T, for example 12.4.25d. Please post if you require further info.
